For routine examination of undecalcified bone for metabolic bone slides, the following techniques are employed. Sections are stained free-floating without etching the resin. i) Von Kossa/Van Gieson ii) Goldner trichrome (personal modification) iii) Toluidine blue iv) Perls' Prussian blue
